Spinal Decompression & Laser Therapy
Spinal decompression and laser therapy is showing great results in getting rid of spine pain. The research shows great benefits with those suffering from many spinal and non-spinal conditions: Lower Back Pain, Rotator Cuff Tears, Plantar Fasciitis, Tennis Elbow, and Coccydynia (tailbone pain), just to name a few.

WHAT IS SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY?
Spinal decompression involves gentle pulling and releasing of the spine creating an intradiscal vacuum to reduce the pressure on the discs. The goal is to eliminate the pain associated with herniated discs, as well as to decrease the size of the herniation/protrusion. This therapy also helps reduce nerve root compression and improve spinal flexibility.
Spinal Decompression therapy is an effective treatment for Bulging disc, Herniated disc, Degenerative disc, Facet syndrome, Sciatica, Post-surgical patients, and Spinal Stenosis.
Research indicates the disc is responsible for a significant number of incidents of back pain, leg pain, neck, and arm pain syndromes. Since the spinal discs don’t have their vascular supply, it doesn’t receive fresh blood and oxygen. Discs require osmotic diffusion through motion and non-weight bearing to restore nutrients and enhance healing through normal activities. When damaged, discs may require decompression therapy to heal.
WHO IS SPINAL DECOMPRESSION FOR?
We have successfully treated thousands of patients with chronic pain associated with disc herniations. Conditions associated with disk herniations manifest as:
- Chronic lower back pain
- Sciatica
- Radiating pain into the glute or leg
- Chronic neck pain
- Radiating pain into arms or hands
- Numbness or tingling
- Difficulty sitting or standing too long
- Loss of strength in arms or legs
- Difficulty bending and lifting
As Southern Utah’s premier Spinal Decompressionist, I carefully screen all candidates for decompression before treatment begins. Our clinical findings suggest Spinal Decompression Therapy will create a relatively quick INITIAL response. Patients feel immediate relief with the first treatment! Full relief, if attainable through this treatment, will usually be within 15 sessions.
Whether you suffer from Neck or Lower Back Pain, Cervical or Lumbar spinal decompression can be delivered in a controlled and proven method. Spinal Decompression therapy is very affordable and cheaper than surgery. Spinal Decompression is highly recommended by Neurological Research. It was found that out of 778 cases of patients receiving spinal decompression 92% said that they showed improvement (Neurological Research; Volume 20, Number 3, April 1998).
Spinal Decompression reduces intradiscal pressure. Recumbent positions (both prone and supine) decrease intradiscal pressures in comparison to standing and sitting. However, focused decompression (i.e. unloading due to distraction and positioning) has been shown to reduce disc pressure and enhance the healing response even further. This, coupled with laser therapy is a tremendous combination in healing cervical and lumbar spine discogenic problems!

What is Laser Therapy?
Class IV K laser therapy, also known as high-dose laser therapy (HDLT), is a medical treatment that uses high-intensity laser light to target specific tissues in the body. It has been used for various medical conditions, including disc problems, such as herniated discs or degenerative disc disease.
How it Works: Class IV K laser therapy delivers concentrated, high-energy light waves deep into the tissues. The cells absorb this energy, which can stimulate cellular metabolism, increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair. In the context of disc problems, it may aim to reduce pain and inflammation in the affected area.
Benefits: The potential benefits of Class IV K laser therapy for disc problems may include pain relief, reduction in inflammation, improved circulation, and enhanced tissue healing. Some patients may also experience improved range of motion.
What does it do? High-dose laser therapy offers a powerful new solution for numerous painful conditions previously untreatable by medical care. Laser therapy is a highly effective alternative to traditional therapies such as cortisone injections and oftentimes even surgery for a wide range of problems.
Feel the difference: In sharp contrast to “cold laser” (LLLT or Low-Level Laser Therapy), which provides no feeling or sensation, patients can feel a profound sense of warmth with each laser treatment as it works to provide penetrating laser light energy deep into the body to reach damaged cells and tissues. Results are typically faster than many other therapeutic modalities. Improvement can often be seen after the first or second treatment.
See the results without side effects: Both acute and chronic disk injuries respond well to laser treatment. Inflammation and swelling are quickly reduced to allow a greater range of motion in the affected area. This helps to regain activity and mobility while reducing scar tissue and adhesions which can slow recovery and healing.
Laser therapeutic effects: During each painless laser treatment, energy increases circulation, and draws fluid, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, the function is restored and pain is relieved.
Cellular effects of laser therapy: During laser therapy the infrared light interacts with the tissues at the cellular level and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the production of cellular energy (ATP) that leads to accelerated cellular regeneration, increasing cellular function and health of the disc.
*Please note that the use of laser therapy for disc problems may vary in terms of its availability, efficacy, and recommended protocols. Always consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and treatment options.
